Bush does not want Americans to think of his conquests(failed) in terms of their human cost. I, for one, stood up and said something before the first soldier died.

Some people did. Most people didn't. I think what's most frustrating is that I don't see how a valid case for war has been made, and yet so many people really believe that it has been. Is there something I'm missing?

You are not missing anything. I remember watching Colin Powell's speech to the UN before asking myself the same thing. I just couldn't believe the case knowing what I knew then and what I know now. I'm glad I never gave in to my doubt. I never gave this lying bunch of scumbags the benefit of the doubt.

We were right then and I took a lot of abuse for it. We are right now!

Why would we want to see their coffins? Let their family's grieve in peace without throwing their picture all over the press.
I didn't protest but then, I still think the war is one we need to fight.

Exmi,
I think there is a large portion of the population that doesn't believe something is real unless they see physical evidence. I think it is necessary to see the coffins in order to fully understand the sacrifice asked of them. I think it is even more important to illustrate that young men and women are dying and we have no conclusive reason why. I hate to say it, but it's the first thing they tell you in Education 101. USE VISUAL AIDS.
